We tend to think of behaviors as good and bad. People who exhibit caring, respectful behavior are good, while people who create chaos and suffering are bad. But what if we shifted that perspective just slightly? What if instead of judging behavior as good and bad, we saw the brain behind the behavior?
For instance, people with healthy brains shine brightly. They light up dark corners and can calm themselves and others.
Conversely, people with unhealthy brains struggle with darkness. They're anxious and confused by their Jagged Little Edges, which bring pain and unmanageability to themselves and others.
When we think of light and dark dispositions, we praise and embrace the light while shunning the dark. But when we look, I MEAN REALLY LOOK, we may see quite another picture emerging because although it's nice to carry the light, somebody has to hold the darkness. So the next time you see someone struggling with addiction, don't just label them a ju**ie or loser because if you look closer... You'll see a fallen warrior.
