We love Bend and stand together with our community. Our hearts are with everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Bend is our home, and we care for one another. Our thoughts are with every child, family, educator, staff member, first responder, and neighbor carrying the weight of this devastating event. We are also deeply grateful for the extraordinary courage of the local resident who stepped into danger and intervened to prevent further loss of life. In the days ahead, we will continue to surround one another with compassion, strength, and care.

For those seeking support, Deschutes County Health Services, St. Charles Health System, and Bend-La Pine Schools are hosting two free community support events today, Friday, October 16. Support will be available from 10 am–3 pm at the Deschutes Public Library and from 4–7 pm at the Larkspur Community Center. The events will provide support, connection, and crisis stabilization resources for families, staff, and community members.

Meet Christina Boccato, the newest attorney to join SKH’s Southern Oregon office. A Southern Oregon native, Christina brings more than 15 years of legal experience in estate planning, probate and trust administration, business transactions, and real estate.

Christina is known for her approachable style and commitment to making the legal process feel clear, comfortable, and manageable for her clients. Funds raised help Street Dog Hero serve dogs in need around the world and in our own community through rescue, adoption, wellness, spay/neuter services, and education.

SKH was proud to support Ronald McDonald House Oregon at the Hoperaiser Gala in Portland, where Shareholders Laurel Hook and Anna Friedhoff joined supporters from across the state for an evening of music, food, and fundraising benefiting families staying at Ronald McDonald House.

In 2025 alone, RMHC Oregon provided more than 20,000 free overnight stays across its four Houses, helping families save $5.4 million in lodging, meals, and support expenses while staying close to their children during difficult times.
