Hello! We are in the process of switching to a new phone system starting this week. There are often technical issues to work through before a new phone system is operating smoothly.

Please know there may be unintended technical issues when you call the Portland or Seattle office in the near future, and our IT Team is working hard to promptly address any issues.

If you are a current client and need to get in contact with us and aren’t able to by phone at the moment, please consider emailing the Team member working on your case. If you are not a current client and would like to schedule an initial consultation, you can email [email protected].

Thank you for your patience during this technology transition!

¡Hola!

There is currently an executive order implemented by the Trump administration that prevents certain foreign national family members from being approved for an immigrant visa at a U.S. Consulate or Embassy abroad (i.e. to come to the U.S. with green card status) until after Dec. 31, 2020.

Some of the categories of cases that cannot be approved because of this executive order are foreign national parents of adult U.S. Citizen children, foreign national siblings of U.S. Citizens, and foreign national adult children of U.S. Citizen parents.

Some U.S. Consulates and Embassies have already reopened after COVID-19 shutdowns. This means that even if a case that falls under those above-mentioned relationship categories (and there are more categories affected by the executive order than the above-mentioned) is ready to be approved by a U.S. Consulate or Embassy, the Consulate or Embassy cannot issue an immigrant visa, and families will remain separated.

The upcoming election in November will impact whether this executive order may be further extended, and the upcoming election will have a substantial impact on Immigration law and policies generally.

If you are a U.S. Citizen and have the right to vote in the upcoming election, we strongly encourage you to exercise that valuable right to vote and let your voice be heard. If you live in Oregon or Washington, where our Firm’s two offices are located, you can register to vote at the websites below:

Following the June 18, 2020 momentous decision by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding DACA, a U.S. District Court in Maryland ruled today that USCIS must begin accepting new DACA applications and that DACA be restored to the original program established by the Obama administration, prior to it being disrupted when the Trump administration took steps to rescind DACA in September 2017. While we have continued helping folks renew their DACA since September 2017, we look forward to assisting folks again with filing new DACA applications, as well as filing Advance Parole applications for those with DACA!

We feel fortunate that we continue to remain in business during this time, and we are doing everything we can to keep business going as usual.

It has been almost a month since Stay at Home orders were implemented in Oregon and Washington. Our hearts continue to go out to all those impacted by COVID-19—this includes not only those diagnosed with the virus, but also their friends and family, those whose jobs and schools have been impacted and so many more. Our focus continues to be, as always, on the health and safety of our staff, clients, and communities.

In order to continue protecting the health and safety of our staff and clients, we are continuing to schedule phone and/or videoconferencing appointments, until further notice. If an in-person appointment is needed, it will only be scheduled on a case-by-case basis at our Portland Office. We are still receiving mail and fax at both offices for our cases.

If you would like to schedule an initial consult or a current client appointment, please call our Portland Office at (503) 274-1680 or our Seattle Office at (206) 294-5060. You can also email [email protected], and one of our team members can help schedule you for an appointment. Although our physical offices are located in Portland, OR, and Seattle, WA, since Immigration law is based on federal law, we can certainly assist with U.S. Immigration cases no matter what city you are located in.

Stay safe and healthy!
