It was a great day for presenting some estate planning basics at the Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. today with Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc.!

We spent some time discussing what an estate plan really is- including all the lifetime benefits such as having a named healthcare surrogate, a living will, and a durable power of attorney in place.

We also chatted about the “typical” after-death parts of estate planning including what probate actually is and the differences between wills and trusts.

We rounded out the conversation with some myths I hear often in my field including the most frequent, “I have a will, so my estate isn’t going through probate.”

Finally, Agnes Lambert and I discussed the legal resources accessible through organizations like Florida Rural Legal Services for those that qualify.

I absolutely loved partnering with our local legal aid and meeting the amazing attendees at the Council on Aging!

Wow! What an incredible afternoon at the park in Okeechobee for the Autism Awareness Celebration hosted by Okeechobee Autism Moms!

The absolute love and acceptance at this event was top tier. These moms really worked hard to bring so many amazing vendors and activities together for the kids! From local resources to a petting zoo and even a dinosaur wandering about, the day was incredible!

Congratulations on a successful event and thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of it Jasmine Lattimore! ❤️♾️

My sister-in-law, Gaby Simpson - Mayorca, is the VP of Donor Stewardship at Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County!

She’s out here making an incredible impact in our community and advocating for a safe place for youth to play, learn, and grow!

I had the absolute pleasure of joining the Power Luncheon this month with her at the Boys and Girls Club to hear more about the amazing soccer programs coming to PSL and how they will partner with local organizations.

Plus, Gaby gave me a tour of the Boys and Girls Club facility, which is absolutely incredible! From access to virtual job training, safe places for teens to hang out together, access to teachers and therapists, team sports, and as many resources as can be provided (including a job training food truck!!), this organization is going all out to create an environment teens actually WANT to be!
