End of year results
3rd and 4th quarters combined
This was an exceptionally tough year with many cases involving very young men [18-22] facing life in prison. More cases like that than average and I truly hope this trend doesn't continue.
I spent so much time talking to parents who couldn't rationalize what happened and how they might not see their son free for decades.
These are not my repeat offenders.
These are one offs and not a trend I want to see continue.
Thankfully, in December, I was able to close a handful and resolve them without life in prison.
My biggest victory was my open plea to a vehicular manslaughter. He was 18 and refused to stop for the police, which escalated into a cross county high speed chase and stop sticks were utilized. He avoided the sticks but not the innocent grandmother pulling into her driveway. Her daughter watched the entire thing happen. She came to sentencing and asked for mercy which nearly made me openly cry.
Justice comes in many forms. But when it's carried on the back of humanity it is a victory for the entire system.
Thank you to our system of justice
It's a privilege to work within your walls.
This is my 25th year of practice, and I'm just hitting my stride.
Thank you
No diversion or other pretrial programs are included. Everything shown is a full case drop.
