if you had a chance to tell this courthouse anything what would you say
...that you f**ked up a good third of my life....I wasn't innocent in ALL my cases....however the cases didn't warrant the excessive time that the judges have to give because they are invested in GEO Group and CoreCivic stocks...

the cases did not warrant prosecutors to fabricate charges and directly lie to get convictions because it is their jobs...and the judge did not have to dismiss the proof I present knowing it can get the case dismissed but turn around and agree with the State to exclude specific evidence or arguments before a trial begins because it would ruin a prosecutor's case.....

I don't think that was fair......

but when I sit back and look at the bigger picture there are families upon families eating off this whole system...

Ahh!..what did I expect?.......

there are alot of other people you did wrong out there...yup….some dont have the hate I have for the state enough where they dedicate their lives to fight back......But heres an idea....WHAT IF I push to educate them to the point they actually see the holes and realize that the state really does not know what they are doing?...especially the police...I mean, how does it take a lawyer 8 years to learn law and a cop 90 days and they think they know law??...impossible.....this is why they mess up.....

well I just wanted to come here to say that you are not invicible....I defeated you 4 times in trial...and my stategy has always been to never take deals...I learned that what if I take everything the state has to throw at me?...because in order to defeat me they gonna have to be willing to die theyself....and I honestly don't think they are ready for that....I live on second street Im at that library 9-5 everyday

Let me formally introduce myself for those who don’t know me:

My name is Bernard “Tribe” Ackon. I am an author, advocate, and someone who has lived through incarceration, wrongful conviction, and the long fight to clear my name and reclaim my life. I documented my own journey in Legal Mail Window, and through everything I have been through, I have spent years listening, learning, speaking out, and helping others make sense of systems and pain that most people do not understand unless they have lived it.

Over time, I found myself in mothers of incarcerated sons groups, talking with mothers from all walks of life who were carrying grief, confusion, pressure, financial stress, unanswered questions, and heartbreak that often had no real outlet. I have read their messages, listened to their stories, and watched so many of them try to stay strong while quietly falling apart. A lot of mothers are grieving while their sons are still alive. A lot of mothers do not understand the system, do not understand what they are feeling, and do not know how to put their pain into words.

That, along with what I saw in my own mother, is why Hidden Victims was born. This book is dedicated to her, but it was shaped by every mother who trusted me enough to share her pain with me. Through those conversations, through my own lived experience, and through witnessing what incarceration really does to the people on the outside, this product came together.

This weekend of Mother’s Day I want to talk about a group of women people rarely acknowledge…

The mothers of incarcerated sons.

The mothers sitting in parking lots after visitation trying not to cry before driving home. The mothers answering prison phone calls while pretending everything is okay. The mothers losing sleep wondering if their son is safe. The mothers carrying shame, judgment, stress, fear, and heartbreak while still finding a way to say “I love you” every single time that phone rings.

A lot of these women are fighting silent battles nobody sees. Some are emotionally drained. Some are financially drained from lawyers, commissary, collect calls, and travel. Some have not hugged their sons in years. Some stare at empty chairs during holidays and birthdays trying to hold themselves together.

That is why I wrote Hidden Victims: The Silent Strength of Mothers of Incarcerated Sons.

Because prison does not only affect the person behind bars…it affects the people who love them too. Especially the mothers.

This Mother’s Day I just want those mothers to know that your pain has not gone unnoticed. Your strength matters. Your love matters. And even through all the chaos and heartbreak…you kept showing up.
