Fannie Mae is removing the minimum 620 credit score requirement for new loan case files created on or after November 16, 2025. Instead of a minimum score, Fannie Mae's Desktop Underwriter (DU) system will use its proprietary credit risk assessment to evaluate loan eligibility. This change removes the minimum score requirement for one or more borrowers, allowing lenders to assess risk using more comprehensive credit history data.

Effective date: The change is effective for new loan case files created on or after November 16, 2025.
