Most of you know I’m not one for negativity in campaigns. But when my opponent makes blatantly false claims, I owe it to you all to set the record straight.

For the past 27 years, I've been a proud supporter of our local community and our local football teams. Recently, my campaign team sponsored one of these teams, which led to a halftime announcement of my name. To my surprise, my opponent took offense and went so far as to accuse me of “paying for an endorsement” and violating Michigan’s campaign finance laws.

Let me be clear: supporting our student athletes isn’t a crime. But throwing out false accusations? That’s another story. Maybe my opponent should dust off his old torts casebook and revisit the “slander per se” section.

I stand by my commitment to this community, just as I always have. Thank you all for your continued support!

Yesterday the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order of March 23, 2020 was extended through May 1st. As a result, our office will continue to be physically closed through May 1st; however, we are still working from our homes during this time and are here to assist you with any of your legal needs. You can still call the office at (734) 414-0358 and reach one of us, or you can contact us at our respective emails.

For our current clients who have had hearings during this scheduled closure, we are actively monitoring court closures, changes in court procedures and policies, and we will personally update you as we know more. We know the uncertainty during this time is difficult and we appreciate your understanding as we deal with these changes and delays.

In accordance with the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order of March 23, 2020, our office will be physically closed from now through April 13th; however, we will be working from our homes during this time. You will still be able to call the office at (734) 414-0358 and reach one of us or you can contact us at our respective emails. There may be some delays or hiccups as we navigate working from separate locations, and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

For our clients who have parenting time exchange schedules per court orders, these orders remain effect and must be followed. Please note that the Governor’s order provides for these exchanges in accordance with your current court orders and/or judgments. Our recommendation is, if possible, to have your parenting time order or judgment on hand when conducting your parenting time exchanges. Please be very cognizant of the impact of this stressful time on your children. Now, more than ever, is the time to do your best to effectively co-parent and work together keeping your child’s best interests in mind.

In an effort to help provide the most up to date information to our clients and community, here is the most recent order from the Michigan Supreme Court. Please note that this order impacts hearings/court proceedings through April 3rd. We will continue to provide specific updates to our clients with regards to their cases as they become available. We hope everyone understands that these changes to court hearings and proceedings are necessary to keep you and our communities safe.

We truly value our clients, potential clients, and staff here at Barone Law Offices. In an effort to keep everyone safe, and to do our part in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will do our best to implement social distancing protocols. Please call the office before stopping in, so that we can limit the number of people in the office at any given time. We are also willing to schedule phone conferences, meetings by Skype or other remote means. For clients who have pending hearings, we are keeping up to dates with the changes in court schedules and closures. We will be in touch with you as soon as we know more.
