Yes on Charter Change wants Plymouth residents to understand the different forms of municipal government and how each one works.

Types of Municipal Government in Massachusetts

Plymouth currently has a Representative Town Meeting–Select Board–Town Manager form of government. Representative Town Meeting exercises the legislative authority, while the Select Board and Town Manager oversee the executive and administrative functions.

A Monday question for Plymouth…

If you could improve just one thing about the way our town government works, what would it be?

Better communication? More transparency? Greater accountability? More opportunities for residents to be heard?

Supporting a Charter Commission does not mean we already have all the answers. It means we believe Plymouth’s residents deserve the opportunity to ask the questions, examine our current system and decide whether it can be improved.

Plymouth has changed tremendously. It’s reasonable to take an honest look at whether our government is keeping up.
