There has been a lot of fear mongering that Trump’s plan to dismantle the US Department of Education means that millions of disabled students will lose their IEPs. This is not true. The IDEA is a federal law, and it will remain in effect regardless of what department administers it. Plus, each state’s department of education has regulations that protect students with disabilities. If your school district is not enforcing your child’s IEP, contact a special education attorney.
