Thank Governor Newsom and thank you to those of you supported me and my fellow notaries!!

A Historic Victory for California Notaries!

We are proud to announce that Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 1597, the California Notary Fee Modernization Act, into law.
This marks the successful conclusion of months of advocacy and represents CLIN's biggest legislative achievement to date.

Together, we demonstrated the power of a united profession.
✔️ 1,950 letters of support submitted
✔️ Overwhelming bipartisan support in the Legislature
✔️ Signed into law on June 30, 2026

This victory belongs to every notary, supporter, organization, and advocate who took the time to write a letter, make a phone call, attend a town hall, share a social media post, or encourage others to get involved.

Thank you to Assemblymember Leticia Castillo for authoring and championing AB 1597, and thank you to Governor Gavin Newsom for signing this important legislation into law.

This law will help expand access to notarial services, support California's small businesses, and strengthen the future of our profession.
