Perhaps a little late in posting this, but I am absolutely thrilled with the SCOTUS decision released two days ago on Monday, June 15, 2020 in Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia! This is a long awaited, very welcome decision that finally recognizes what many excellent attorneys have been arguing for years now, which is discriminating against a person because of their s*xual orientation and/or gender identity is absolutely and unequivocally s*x discrimination. Much grateful thanks to Justice Neil Gorsuch for drafting the majority opinion, which recognizes that s*x cannot be separated from this equation.

June 15, 2020 is a day I will remember and observe every year for the rest of my life. It is so wonderful to see progress in a time of great stress and unrest and to see the Civil Rights Movement is alive and well! All persons in America will benefit from this decision. We are changing our country for the better!

Together we can and do make a difference. Let's keep the momentum going!

God bless my diverse America!

While the country is rightfully focused on the death of George Floyd, take a minute to search K'Andre Miller and find out what is STILL going on even at the highest level of professional sports in our country in the NHL. A black man should not have to justify his ability or right to play ice hockey because of the tone of his skin. K'Andre Miller was drafted by the New York Rangers because he's got NHL level skills. That itself should be enough.

Amidst the lack of respect for life and understandably resulting anger, frustration, and social unrest, let us all do our best to remain peaceful while we focus on change to bring about a world in which every life matters. Protecting our civil rights has never been more important than the present.

Regardless of the higher power you believe in, it is obvious that nature intends and benefits from great diversity and variety. We as humans are part of that natural diversity. Let us celebrate the differences that make us special and add to the variety of our lives. Let us thrive together in the richness diversity brings us. Let us share in the abundant opportunities to be great together through the inclusion of all.

It was with great sadness yesterday I learned of the passing of Amy Stevens, the Plaintiff in Stevens v. R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes which is currently pending before the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Stevens bravery and willingness to put herself into the public eye for the advancement of LGBT civil rights in our country will leave an indelible mark in our country's legal precedent. She will remain a person I revere for the remainder of my life for what she stood up for. It is because of brave individuals like her that I am able to do what I do. Thank you Amy Stevens. I never got the privilege of meeting you, but your act has forever impacted my life and my law practice.
