This afternoon, I prevailed on a very hard fought hearing on a motion for a new trial. After winning a day long jury trial back in December, 2015, in Broward Circuit Court, the other side filed a very comprehensive, and well-drafted, 68 page Motion for Rehearing. I responded in kind, but only 26 pages. When the hearing started today, I had the sense that the judge was inclined to rule against me, but I can't know that. Anyway, after about 45-minutes of very intense argument the judge denied their motion. I think I actually changed the judge's mind (must have been my sterling argument). Now they will appeal it, but that is their right. As much as I enjoy the analysis and the argument, it is that much better to actually enjoy the WIN. Just thought I'd share my victory. My most recent article was published this month in the Broward County Barrister, titled "Behind the Bench: A Gilmpse of the Work of a Judge." The article gives attorneys and pro se litigants an idea of how a judge sees the work he does every day on the bench handling cases. Special thanks are sent to Circuit Judge William W. Haury and County Judge Robert Diaz for graciously granting their time to me as I spent most of a day with each of them. Hope you enjoy the article.

I am proud to announce that this past Friday night that I was installed as one of the board members of the South Broward Bar Association.
I would like to thank Supreme Court Justice Peggy A. Quince and Honorable Judge Carole Taylor for their inspiring words, Honorable Judge Ilona M. Holmes for her entertaining and often humorous contributions, and Honorable Judge Jack Tuter for installing me along with the other officers and board members for this year's Board of Directors.
I am also grateful to Past-President Abbe Rifkin, President Kristine M. Johnson, and the board members who put on the excellent event, and of course the event's sponsors (too numerous to list here). I also offer a special thank you to Kenneth P. Hassett for suggesting to me, inspiring me, and encouraging me to seek membership on the board, and to the board members for accepting me as new board member.
I look forward to a productive and inspiring year.
I would also like to give a special thank you to my brilliant and beautiful wife, Debbie, for always supporting and improving me, and to our daughter, Chloe, who brought to the event the spice that only a teenage girl can give. Thanks to all. Alan Grossman.
