A premarital agreement (often called a prenup) in Texas can be a practical and strategic tool—especially for professionals, business owners, or anyone with significant assets. Under Texas law, these agreements are enforceable when properly prepared and executed. Understanding how premarital agreements operate is critical in determining whether a premarital agreement might be appropriate. Premarital Agreements can alter regular Texas law as it applies to a couple. It can change it a little or a lot, depending on the needs and desires of the couple. There are many potential benefits to a premarital agreement but they should be entered into thoughtfully and with the advice of qualified counsel.
