West Plano, get ready for a new spot for pastries, coffee, and comfort food.

Have you heard that San Martin Bakery & Restaurant in Plano is opening this Monday, September 28 at 5809 Preston Road, near Preston and Spring Creek?

If you haven't been to any of the other locations,, it's a beloved Guatemalan bakery and restaurant known for its beautiful pastries, fresh baked breads, cakes, coffee, and a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a meal, meet a friend for coffee, or pick up something sweet to take home.

I've been to the San Martin in Addison and it's wonderful! I'm excited to have another location nearby and thought I'd share the news with neighbors.

If you've been to another San Martin location, share your favorites below - which pastry, break, drink or menu item do you always order?

This may be the most significant development proposal West Plano has seen in years.

The proposed Dallas Stars development at the former Willow Bend Mall site continues to generate a lot of discussion throughout our community.

Supporters see exciting possiblities, including new entertainment, restaurants, jobs and investment in the area. Others have expressed concerns about increased traffic, parking, noise, crowds and the potential impact on nearby neighborhoods.

No matter when you stand, this project could have a significant impact on West Plano for years to come.

Community meetings are being held to provide information and gather feedback from residents. Details are below:

Where: Willow Bend Mall, enter at entrance near Equinox and Crate and Barrel

Day/Time: Wednesday, July 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and July 14, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you see as the biggest benefit or biggest concern - regarding the proposed development?

Please keep comments respectful so everyone feels comfortable sharing their perspective.
