Suspect Killed After Pursuit From Floyd County Ends In Deputy Involved Shooting Near Ralls

A suspect is dead after a pursuit that began in Floyd County and ended in Crosby County Sunday afternoon, according to multiple law enforcement agencies.

Authorities said the incident started around 3 p.m. during a traffic stop in Floydada when the suspect fled southbound on US 62. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect later crossed into Crosby County on FM 207 while officers and deputies continued the pursuit.

Investigators say the suspect stopped near FM 207 and County Road 144 before getting out of the vehicle with a firearm. According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect fired at officers despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, leading to what officials described as an exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed no officers or deputies were physically injured during the incident.

Law enforcement also stated the suspect dropped off a passenger along the highway before the shooting occurred. No information about the passenger has been released.

The Texas Rangers are now leading the investigation alongside the Floydada Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and Crosby County Sheriff’s Office.

Limited information has been released as investigators continue processing the scene and reviewing the events leading up to the shooting.
