Another enormous loss for the Berkshire County legal community.

Judge Simons served in one of the most difficult judgeships in the system with grace, patience, and respect for everyone who appeared before him. He was a fierce protector of children while ensuring that the rights of both parents were preserved—a balance that is never easy to achieve.

I didn’t agree with every decision he made in my cases, but as a lawyer who appeared before him on a daily basis, that’s a good thing. A judge’s job isn’t to please lawyers—it’s to apply the law fairly and impartially.

Judge Simons’ legacy is about more than the decisions he made. It is the standard he set through his fairness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to justice.

I would like to wish a long and peaceful retirement to one of the truest professionals and kindest people in the Berkshire County legal community.

Tim will be remembered for his fair administration of justice, his vast knowledge of the law and his compassion for everyone who walked through the doors of the Northern Berkshire District Court over the last two and a half decades.

The job is done, but the legacy will remain.
