WWD if you got a $35M legal bill? Right now BigLaw Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr is facing a legal challenge to their bill which includes $162,000 charged in one day and top partners billing $2,095 per hour.

If you are looking for legal representation don't discount or overlook smaller law firms. They often charge significantly less per hour which means they can work more hours on your case before you hit sky high bills like the one above. Because if a motion takes 10 hours to write, it takes 10 hours. BigLaw attorneys are not magic, they still have to spend time working on the case.

Brazilian billionaire Alberto Safra is challenging a $35 million bill from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, which included charges from one partner who said he worked more than 19 hours in one day.

On Friday evening we attended the Cancer Bridges fundraiser, and were proud to sponsor the raffle and auction. We found out about the organization from my friend Robert Tokay, whose company, Key Performance Consultants, was also a sponsor. Both Rachel and I have been recently affected by close family members with cancer, and know how incredibly important it is for those going through it to have a supportive community. Cancer Bridges supports those impacted by cancer through a variety of free programs and services. It was a wonderful event, and we let them know that we would happy to help the organization in the future.

Just remember PA has the Failure to Report to Work During a State of Emergency Act (Act of Jan. 29, 1998, P.L. 22, No. 4), which prohibits employers from terminating or disciplining an employee who is unable to report to work due to road closures caused by a Governor-declared state of emergency. The law defines discipline broadly and includes actions that negatively affect pay, job status, promotion opportunities, or employee benefits. While employers are not required to pay wages for missed workdays under these circumstances, employees have legal remedies if the law is intentionally violated.
