My dad had a special place in his heart the service officers who all work tirelessly to make sure that veterans receive the benefits they deserve due to service related injuries and/or illness. 

I appreciate the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW for not only remembering my father with the namesake award, but inviting me and my mother to come every year and meet the recipient of the service officer of the year award.

With my schedule, it is always difficult to get to the national convention, this year in Reno, but out of utmost respect for the VFW, and appreciation of the work of the recipient of the award, I always make the trip a priority because it would be ignorant and disrespectful on my part not to be here.

The VFW honored Army veteran Colin Anderson with the 2025-2026 John A. Biedrzycki Accredited Service Representative of the Year Award for his outstanding leadership in expanding veterans' access to VA benefits and advocacy services in New York.

What an amazing day. The International Jaguar Festival was held in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. I entered my car in the Concours judging, against cars from all over North America.

Well, I now have an international award winning Jaguar F-Pace SVR, that is autographed by legendary Jaguar designer Ian Callum, who also presented my award.

Second place in my “driven” division, wow, but I only lost by decimals to a perfect 10 car! Jaguar

For never having entered a car show before, let alone an international, getting 2nd place to a 10 point car, I’ll take that all day long!

Good advice. Even better, leave it to the professionals.

Since we’re currently in the midst of a heat wave and everything is very dry, there’s a good chance that you could also start a fire.

We know our awesome community fireworks display was last weekend, but we also know that your neighbors have a premium membership at Phantom and got their pallet of Zippity Doo'Dahs 50% off this year to celebrate the big 250....

So, if you're the one launching the Hoosker Doos tomorrow and don't want us to crash your party...here's what to Hoosker Don't...

🎆 Don't light fireworks too close to homes, vehicles, trees, or anything else you'd rather not explain to Jake from State Farm (stay 150 ft away from any occupied structure).

🎆 Don't let kids handle fireworks...gotta be 18 or older to buy/possess/use consumer grade boom booms (sparklers/novelty type items not as restricted)

🎆 Don't mix fireworks and alcohol...not only illegal, but also the reason Uncle Craig has 3 fingers on his left hand.

🎆 Don't relight a "dud". Give it a few minutes, dump some water on it and then throw it away (this is great advice for handling any dud).

🎆 Don't aim fireworks at people, pets, or property (we can't believe we even have to address this).

🎆 An finally, and more seriously...don't forget that while fireworks are fun for many, they can be very stressful for veterans, sleeping babies, pets, and wildlife. Be respectful of your neighbors and wrap things up at a reasonable hour.
