For ten years we have fought to defend the rights of those accused and incarcerated. We have worked some of the hardest cases in Florida, and worked with some of the most outstanding lawyers. We have had tremendous wins, and losses that took us to our knees. Throughout it all we have been supported by friends, family, and the best staff out there.

We will share details of our next chapters in the days and weeks to come, but for now we want to extend our sincere appreciation for all those who have trusted us with their cases, worked with us to pursue justice, and continued to share our unyielding commitment to righting the wrongs of an imperfect system as we continue a legacy of offering hope to those in their darkest days.

Allison Ferber Miller saved a life today in Osceola. The Defendant was someone whom few would find room for sympathy. The crime was reprehensible in every measure. But despite those formidable challenges, Allison manages to never lose sight of the fact that every person deserves to be defended from ex*****on and that everyone accused is still a humanbeing worthy of dignity and respect. Her passion and devotion is inspiring and I am continuously left in awe by her work and forever grateful to count her among my friends and as part of our firm taking on this incredibly important work.

Moments like these are rare, but this one could not have been more perfect. Six weeks of back and forth travel to Miami in an effort to right the wrongs of 20+ years of gross prosecutorial misconduct. Worth it.

Incredibly proud of our attorneys and staff, our college interns and volunteers. Successfully disqualifying the prosecutors from this case is the first step towards securing justice for our client and the community.

Yesterday, Founding Partner Dan Ripley secured the release of a man who had spent nearly two decades of a life sentence in prison for a crime he was not guilty of. While nothing can give back the years our client lost, he will soon be able to hug his mother as a free man. Dan’s determined fight to see this injustice corrected took years, but in the end justice has won. We could not be more proud of Dan and the entire office for fighting the fights necessary to right the wrongs that too often occur.

Managing Partner Craig Whisenhunt joined national and state leaders Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones, Florida State Senator Geraldine Thompson, Florida State Representative and Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell, Florida State Representative Dianne Hart, Florida State Representative Michele Rayner, David Johns of the National Black Justice Coalition, Secretary-Treasurer Federick Ingram of the American Federation of Teachers, civil rights attorney Ben Crump, religious leaders and three exceptional high school students to call on Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida Department of Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. to rescind the policy banning AP African American Studies or face legal repercussions. Ripley Whisenhunt is proud to lead in that lawsuit should it become necessary. As Craig said today, “Our students deserve better.”

Pursuit of justice doesn’t end simply because a conviction was obtained. This article, written by our associate Allison Miller shows the unfortunate injustice that persists in the 6th Circuit. Justice for all must include Justice for the families and victims of cold cases as well as those accused and wrongly accused of crimes.

Unfortunately, the State Attorney’s Office, Sixth Judicial Circuit does not have a Conviction Integrity Unit.

Incredibly proud of Allison Miller and her tireless determination to help Stephanie, whose conviction and incarceration were entirely the consequence of a State’s Attorney Office determined to perpetuate junk science and willful avoidance of the truth. Stephanie’s case is tragic, but all too common. We are determined to bring Justice to all who have been wrongfully convicted and ensure all who are accused get a fair trial.
