It is time for a Republican as County Attorney: Paul Howard, Jr. Throughout the county, residents have asked for more Republican options on election ballots. You want candidates who will show fiscal responsibility and true respect for the elected position sought. Pike Countians, here is a solid Republican candidate to support.
Remember when you elect the County Attorney for Pike County, the salary for the performance of the duties attached to the office are paid through your tax dollars. Paul Howard, Jr. has promised the voters that if elected he will have one job: Full-time Attorney for the 56,000 residents of Pike County, Monday through Friday from the beginning to the end of office hours.
In case you have never considered all of the duties of this job, here are a few: The Pike County Attorney prosecutes all violations of criminal law within the jurisdiction of the district court, including misdemeanors such as DUI offenses, other traffic violations, assault, and certain thefts dependent upon monetary value. The Pike County Attorney has prosecutorial jurisdiction over juvenile issues, which include criminal acts, dependency, neglect, and abuse. The Pike County attorney works with judges to issue emergency protective orders in domestic violence cases, handles extraditions, and oversees mental commitments and disability cases. In circuit court, the Pike County Attorney handles felony preliminary hearings. The Pike County Attorney serves as counsel to the Pike County Fiscal Court, boards, and county officials in all legal issues. If a Pike County government or agency is sued, the Pike County Attorney advises elected officials and defends the county’s position in court. The County Attorney’s office collects delinquent property taxes and delinquent child support payments for parents.
We need to elect a Pike County Attorney who respects the obligations of the job and is willing to make the commitment necessary to be your full-time public servant.
