25 Years: A Journey of Faith, Grit, and Purpose
Today marks 25 years since I took the biggest leap of faith in my life.
It started long before October 1, 2000—with seeds God planted in my heart as I worked at various law firms. I spent months planning: the name, the structure, the equipment list…everything except the one thing I needed most: clients.
September 27, 2000—just 3 days before launch—I still had zero clients. I was 28, a wife and mom of two, living paycheck to paycheck. No nest egg. No seed money. No financial safety net. The rational choice would have been to stay put. But God’s pull was stronger than my fear, so I stepped out of the boat.
September 28, 2000—just 2 days before launch, my first client called: my very first boss, the attorney who gave me my start. Lesson learned early—never burn bridges.
*The Reality Check
I won’t romanticize it: my dream was flexibility with my boys, but I learned that business ownership demands everything. Nights, early mornings, weekends—I wore every hat: bookkeeper, billing clerk, marketing manager, paralegal.
I built this business from the ground up with no financial assistance—every piece of equipment, every investment, every milestone was built on every dollar I earned.
The last 10 years with employees was especially difficult, I’ve wanted to quit more times than I can count.
*The Unexpected Gift
But somewhere along the way, I discovered my true calling: developing and training paralegals. I’d always wanted to teach but never pursued it—yet here I am, 25 years later, hiring, training, and shaping careers in estate and trust law. Through this business, I get to touch lives, create impact, and hopefully inspire others to reach higher.
*What I’ve Learned:
Quiet yourself often. Listen for God’s whispers.
Pay attention to persistent thoughts—they’re planted there for a reason.
Have courage to step out of your comfort zone.
Trust that God will show you the path up OR around the mountain. Just keep taking the next step.
You CAN do hard things.
Stop and notice how far you’ve come. Be proud, even of the small wins.
Be tenacious.
Be intentional.
Family is everything!
They are the only ones that will always be there for you no matter what!
Here’s to 25 years of faith over fear, and to everyone who’s been part of this journey.
Thank you for being such an important part of my story!
I can’t wait to see where God leads us in the years ahead.
