This decision by the 8th Circuit District court of appeals confirms our belief that the jury should have never found for the former professional wrestler and Minnesota Governor, James Janos (aka Jesse Ventura). The appellate court completely dismissed the jury’s Unjust Enrichment decision and an award of $1.35M (without ordering a retrial) and ordered a new trial for the Defamation portion of the case dismissing the jury’s $500K award. A victory indeed for our brilliant clients; the trial lawyers of Faegre Baker Daniels and appellate counsel Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz. And of course congratulations to Chris Kyle’s widow, Taya, (the surviving defendant), who had to endure the tyranny of this trial and the results of the jury’s decision based on judicial error. P&A is proud to have been a part of the trial team on behalf of Kyle. Justice has finally been served.

The appeals court threw out the $1.35 million awarded to Jesse Ventura for "unjust enrichment." It ordered the district court to conduct a new trial on the $500,000 defamation judgment in favor of Ventura.
