The verdict was in today after a two day deliberation and a five day jury trial for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Our client was innocent of the charge. We never disputed he had a gun but he never aimed his gun and never committed an aggravated assault.

Our client was looking at 7.5 years in prison for a first time offense. There was a lot on the line. Attorney Samantha DuMond teamed up with long time colleague Attorney Marc Adair to make the best legal team for this case and for this client.

A huge shoutout to the DuMond Law Firm team for everything they do behind the scenes! There is so much that goes into a trial and it really is a team effort and a team win!

Another Post Conviction Relief Success!

Never stop fighting. When our client knew that he wanted to pursue post conviction relief after his change of plea and sentencing, every legal obstacle imaginable was thrown his way.

After years of fighting his case in the State Courts and then in the Federal Courts, all for the opportunity to present his claim, he was finally granted relief. That is where the DuMond Law Firm stepped in.

We were able to review the case, spot the issue, draft such a strong Petition for Post Conviction Relief that the Judge informed us the motion was going to be granted so the State should go negotiate a plea to time served and that is exactly what we all did.

Our client walked out of this facility pictured below and back to the Maricopa County Jail to proceed with a new change of plea, negotiated by the DuMond Law Firm which reduced the amount of time for the offense, reduced the offense level, and removed sentencing enhancements.

Yesterday he walked out of the Maricopa County Jail and into our office. He can now get back to his life, his family, and his children three years earlier than expected.

Successful sentence correction through post conviction relief! Today is a day to celebrate as our client walks out these doors a free man.

Associate Attorney Mohamad Tokko was contacted by our client when he was not released from the Department of Corrections after serving 8.5 years of a 10 year sentence. The Department of Corrections told our client they made a mistake and he actually was not eligible for the early release even after the State Attorney, the Court themselves, and the Defense attorney had all told our client it would be 8.5 years.

Attorney Tokko was able to pinpoint the issue, which was was an error in the statute on the plea, and bring it to the Court through Post Conviction Relief. Our Client will walk out of this jail after being brought back from the Department of Corrections and seeing Judge today to fix the issue.

Great job to the DuMond Law Firm team and especially to Attorney Mohamad Tokko!

Conviction and Sentence vacated today after another successful post conviction relief petition!

One of the DuMond Law Firm’s clients will be walking out these doors 8.5 years earlier than originally sentenced due to the hard work of the DuMond Law Firm Post Conviction Relief Team.

Through extensive transcript review by Jonathan Edgar, Paralegal at the firm, and through the advocacy of Attorney Samantha DuMond, our client was able to have his trial conviction and sentence vacated and able to enter into a favorable plea today resulting in 8.5 years of his life returned.

Successful Sentence Reduction Through Post Conviction Relief!

12.25 years to 7.5 years. After two years of proceedings, today marks a new day for one of the DuMond Law Firm’s clients.

Through extensive document review by our paralegal, Jonathan Edgar, to discover an error in a probation status, and advocacy by Attorney Samantha DuMond, for fighting this matter through multiple levels of the Court system, our client was able to be resentenced today and removed almost five years off of his sentence. With his back time, he has only about two years left now instead of seven.

While these fights can be long, it is important to never lose hope. Our client and his family can begin planning for a future sooner than before and that is what makes this victory so much sweeter.

Tonight it didn’t matter what color your skin is, what gender you are, what your religion is, or what your sexual orientation is. Tonight was about unity. Everyone coming together to bring awareness to some serious issues happening right now in our society. Our firm is proud to march together and proud to be a part of something that is far bigger than each of us individually.
