Catastrophic Workers’ Compensation cases require far more than filing petitions and attending hearings. They require a lot of experience!

At Cardamone Law, we have handled some of the most serious workplace injury cases imaginable — including multiple traumatic brain injury cases involving profound cognitive and functional impairment, clients requiring 24-hour supervision and care, and an amputation case involving loss of a leg, loss of function in the remaining leg, major internal injuries, and more than 40 surgeries.

In cases like these, the legal work is only one part of the job.

There may be major issues involving:

- coordinating a safe discharge from a hospital or rehabilitation facility;
- working with physicians, nurses, case managers, adjusters, and family members;
- making sure appropriate home-health and attendant care is actually in place;
- determining who is responsible for paying for that care;
- arranging medical equipment and ongoing therapies;
- modifying or rebuilding portions of a home to accommodate catastrophic injuries;
- addressing wheelchair accessibility, ramps, bathrooms, bedrooms, and other structural needs;
- modifying a vehicle so an injured worker can regain some degree of independence;
- coordinating long-term medical, behavioral, cognitive, and rehabilitation care;
- and making sure the workers’ compensation carrier meets its obligations throughout the process.

These cases can last for years and involve enormous medical, financial, and practical complexity. Families are often overwhelmed, and there are many moving parts that have to be managed correctly.

Experience matters.

Cardamone Law focuses exclusively on Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation. We have the experience, resources, and attention to detail necessary to manage catastrophic injury cases from the litigation side and from the practical side — helping ensure that the injured worker’s medical, home-care, rehabilitation, and long-term needs are properly addressed.

For seriously injured workers and their families, this is not just about benefits. It is about rebuilding a life.

Amputation injuries are among the most serious workplace injuries we handle under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act.

When an injured worker loses a finger, hand, foot, toe, arm, leg — or suffers a permanent loss of use — the claim may involve Pennsylvania workers’ compensation specific loss benefits. But these cases are often much more complicated than simply looking at a schedule of weeks.

Important legal issues can include the amount and duration of specific loss benefits, when those benefits become payable, whether an additional healing period applies, and whether the worker may also be entitled to total disability benefits.

Another major issue is whether the worker suffered an injury “separate and apart” from the specific loss. In the right case, that distinction can significantly affect the benefits available.
Hand and finger amputation claims can be especially complex. These injuries may involve not only the loss of a digit, but also nerve damage, chronic pain, CRPS, loss of grip strength, scarring, functional impairment, and other complications that must be carefully evaluated.

At Cardamone Law, we focus exclusively on Pennsylvania workers’ compensation and have handled dozens of amputation and specific loss cases to successful conclusions, including many serious finger and hand amputation claims.

We understand the medical evidence, the Pennsylvania specific loss schedule, the healing-period rules, and the legal issues that determine whether additional workers’ compensation benefits may be owed.

Injured workers should not assume that the insurance company has correctly calculated the value of an amputation or permanent loss-of-use claim.

If you suffered an amputation, finger injury, hand injury, or permanent loss of use in a workplace accident in Pennsylvania, make sure your claim is being evaluated for every benefit available under Pennsylvania workers’ compensation law.

Brain injuries are among the most complicated injuries we handle.

Unlike a broken bone or a torn tendon, a traumatic brain injury does not always show up neatly on an MRI or CT scan. Symptoms can be subtle, fluctuate over time, and affect memory, concentration, balance, mood, sleep, vision, judgment, and a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

That makes these cases uniquely challenging.

At Cardamone Law, we have handled numerous workers’ compensation cases involving serious brain injuries and understand the specialized medical care these claims often require — including neurology, neuropsychology, vestibular therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, speech therapy, psychiatry, and other disciplines.

We also understand how insurers may challenge these cases precisely because so much of brain-injury medicine can involve symptoms that are not easily measured with a single test.
That is why experience matters.

Our job is not simply to file paperwork. It is to understand the medicine, develop the medical evidence, work closely with the treating providers, and make sure the full impact of the injury is presented clearly and persuasively.

Through Cardamone Law and Keystone Brain Injury Lawyers, we are committed to helping injured workers and their families navigate these difficult cases with the attention and preparation they deserve.

If a workplace injury has resulted in a concussion or traumatic brain injury, getting the right legal and medical team in place early can make a significant difference.

Working hard on this Labor Day. We have 6 hearings tomorrow to prepare for. But, we hope our clients and friends are resting on this great holiday!

Do you really believe your work comp case will be handled better by a big mill firm where files often get tossed around like hot potatoes, or with a specialized boutique firm that only handles work comp where experienced attorneys are handling the case from day 1?🤓

Every day an injured worker goes without a Certified Specialist representing them, even if they're getting benefits, is a day they lose money. It's true.

The adjustor knows a lot more than you. Don't be lulled into self-representation.
