My neighbor always has a smile on his face. His son just started two-a-days. Dad is nervous. He doesn’t want his son to get a concussion. Dad suffered a TBI on the job 17 years ago. It took him 3 years to “recover”. Even though he’s “recovered”, he knows he’s not the same person. He has chronic insomnia. He wears prescription sunglasses. Bright lights trigger terrible headaches. He lives his life as safe as he can. He’s in constant fear of a reactivation crash or fall. Everything he does is a struggle. Yet he keeps a smile on his face. He is a survivor.

A stroke is when the blood supply to part of your brain is cut off. In this animation we explain what a stroke is and the risk factors associated with having one.

World Mental Health Day

Every year, October 10th is a day to raise awareness of and remove the stigma around mental health. It’s also a day to reach out to those we care about and remind them that they are not alone.

“Psychiatric Times” recently published a special feature regarding the mental health effects of traumatic brain injuries.

“Traumatic brain injury is a public health epidemic. Psychiatric symptoms after TBI are not just common, but also troublesome.”

After reading the feature, I was reminded that these are catastrophic injuries with lifelong impact. https://www.psychiatrictimes.com/view/pharmacological-management-psychiatric-aspects-traumatic-brain-injury

Scientists Sound Alarm About COVID-19 Related Brain Damage

Scientists at University College in London found that COVID-19 can lead to neurological disorders including: Brain Inflammation, Stroke, Nerve Damage, Delirium, and the rare neurological disorder Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM). This research expands on the previously identified neurological complications of COVID-19: Encephalopathy, Meningo-Encephalitis, Ischemic Stroke, Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The hope is that the increased awareness of neurological effects will lead to early diagnosis and better patient outcomes.

We are pleased to announce a $175,000.00 settlement award reached for our client during Jury Selection on September 30th in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Our client suffered a severe wrist fracture caused by a violation of safety rules in the repair of a highway in Kensington. This award is a testament to the American value that all people, no matter where they live or what disease they may suffer from, are entitled to full justice. &Pratt

I am pleased to announce a $130,000.00 unanimous jury verdict for our client, who was injured in a rear-end car crash. The insurance company argued it was a minor impact collision and disputed whether our client had a shoulder tear. Their final offer before trial was only $16,000.00. Major takeaway - pain and suffering are real and cannot be ignored.
