OUR HISTORY
Mendel Green founded Green and Spiegel LLP in 1962 at a time when there were very few avenues to immigrate to Canada. It was not uncommon for families to be separated by seemingly arbitrary decisions and there were no appeals – immigration decisions were final. The importance of the work was underlined by a lack of accessibility to representation – there were only two lawyers practicing immigration law in Toronto at the time. In the early 1990s, the Firm expanded its offerings to include comprehensive immigration options into the U.S. Our efforts culminated in 2012 with the opening of the first U.S. offices in Philadelphia, PA, (which serves as our U.S. headquarters) and Providence, RI. In 2015, we opened our office in Vail, Colorado.
Our practice now includes five partners and a family of over 100 employees. Expanding upon our Canadian roots the U.S. practice has grown substantially, representing household name clients operating in the healthcare, insurance, professional sports, information technology, and many other industries. As a boutique firm, we also cater to entrepreneurs, investors, and start-ups seeking immigration benefits. Because we restrict our practice exclusively to immigration law, our attorneys are widely considered to be thought leaders on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border.
