Congratulations to my client from Bolivia who finally got her green card today!!! Consular processing, which is applying for your green card overseas can take a very long time!

My client was frustrated because she was having trouble with the financial paperwork and couldn’t navigate the system on her own. I was able to prepare new documentation and soon the case was ready for her interview in Bolivia. We finalized the rest of the evidence for the interview this week and she was approved for the visa on the spot! Congratulations to her!!!

Congratulations to my client from Burkina Faso who was just released from immigration detention today!!!

My client crossed the border after his father’s life was threatened because of his father’s involvement in the Volunteers of the Defense of the Fatherland, an organization that fought against terrorism in Burkina Faso.

When the terrorists couldn’t find his father for retribution, they threatened his family and murdered his sister!!! The rest of the family went into hiding and my client was able to cross many countries to get here! When he arrived at the border and was detained unfortunately there was no interpreter in his native language of Moore so he did the credible interview in French and failed because he could not fully understand the questions.

If you fail the credible fear interview you only have one opportunity in front of a judge to prove you have a case or you will be immediately deported!!!

We decided his best argument would be that he had a meritorious asylum case based on an imputed political opinion associated with his father’s political belief and that he should be given another opportunity to argue his case in his best language.

With my help we were able to get a Moore interpreter for the hearing and the judge was so impressed with my argument that he granted the credible fear hearing! And I just got notice from his sponsor he was released! Congratulations to him!!!

Congratulations to my client from Mexico who was awarded bond last week! He was detained for gun possession when the gun in fact was owned by the co-defendant who had a lawful license to carry. Even though the co-defendant had all the paperwork showing he was the owner and had a license to carry and my client never touched the gun, there was still a pending criminal charge against him. I prepared his statement and all of his documents for his immigration bond hearing. After a month of being in prison he is finally going to be released and will be able to spend time with his 3 children, one of which is an infant son who was born 3 weeks ago while he was in prison!!! Congratulations to him!!!

Congratulations to my client from Nigeria on getting her green card extended! She had originally filed a Petition for her 10 year green card based on her marriage to her wife 3 years ago but hadnt been approved and her green card had expired. There is a significant backlog on I-751 Petitions because in the majority of cases another interview has to be scheduled which USCIS started doing in mid 2020. She also had divorced her wife but USCIS had not been updated about her change in marital status and she needed a valid green card to care for her father having eye surgery this month.

I contacted USCIS to let them know of the divorce and requested an emergency INFOPASS appointment with USCIS for an extension on her expired green card. The appointment was scheduled the next week, I accompanied her to the interview, and her green card was extended for another year! Congratulations to her!

Congratulations to my client from Nigeria who is finally reunited with his 9 year old adopted son, wife, and twin daughters! His son’s case was approved through the National Visa Center but the transfer to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria and interview date was postponed due to the pandemic as interviews were no longer being scheduled for many months. After our office made many calls and emails to the Embassy, the child’s interview was scheduled, he was approved, and was able to be with his family for the holidays this year!

If you are in a position to give please consider donating to my sister Marshe Wyche and her store Rumors!

She has been providing charity to other Artists and has made a sacred space for fashion, art, and music in Richmond, Virginia for the last 18 years! Even though her store is now destroyed because of the riots she will always be standing!

My sister is an Angel.

She is taking this loss of her store and her business, without anger at the protestors, but with understanding and empathy over the real fight against injustice. “After the damage last night, it feels like we are trying to climb that hill with broken limbs and bleeding fingers.” Link to donate https://www.gofundme.com/f/rumors-boutique

Congratulations to my client from Romania who was released from prison today!! He has been detained since January for petty theft from a store in the amount of $200.00. He was previously arrested before for having a grinder containing ma*****na but was only found guilty of disorderly conduct. Unfortunately his criminal attorney could not represent him on the petty theft because the Courts were closed and he could not appear. His first bond hearing was cancelled because of quarantine. He was denied bond at his second hearing because he was deemed a flight risk and danger to the community pursuant to the current law in the BIA even though I argued that there were exigent circumstances with the amount of detainees in his dorm that were sick. The Court stated we could file an appeal and wait months for a decision but his bond would be set at $45,000!!! His asylum application was due the following week but my client was afraid to continue his case. He wanted to go home especially after another detainee died from the virus. However, due to the travel ban in general I had no idea how long it would take for him to be deported. Because people are not allowed to work he was unable to pay me to file his Asylum application but I did it anyway just to preserve his rights and sent a copy with supporting documents to ICE/DHS. For the last two weeks where he was scheduled to the appear his hearings were cancelled. I just received a phone call that my client was released today on his own recognizance which means that he is FREE without having to pay any bond. He is finally free after THREE LONG MONTHS! Congratulations to him! 🏛🏛🏛💼💼💼
