In a new RCCB Alert, employment attorneys Chris Cognato and Aislinn Sroczynski examine Colorado’s newly enacted law governing “automated decision-making technology” (ADMT) and what employers should do now to prepare for compliance before the law takes effect on January 1, 2027.

Employers in Colorado — including those with a remote presence in the state — should take note of the law and prepare for similar legal requirements regulating the use of AI in hiring and employment practices that are likely on the horizon.

As AI continues to reshape workplace decision-making, employers should evaluate the tools currently being used across HR and hiring functions and prepare for similar legislation in other jurisdictions.

This week brought new opportunities, thoughtful conversations, and continued momentum across our Intellectual Property team as we participated in the 2026 International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting in London.

During the Annual Meeting, RCCB enjoyed hosting a relaxed gathering at The Last Judgment Pub-Eatery Bar, bringing together clients, colleagues, and international counsel for conversation and connection outside the formal conference setting. Attorneys Barry Cohen, Donna Tobin, Nancy Rubner Frandsen, and Julie Latsko appreciated the strong turnout and the opportunity to connect with attendees in one of London’s historic pubs.

The Annual Meeting brought together trademark and brand professionals from around the world for several days of programming, networking, and discussion on the issues shaping global trademark law, brand protection, and IP strategy. As brands continue to navigate an increasingly complex international marketplace, RCCB’s IP team remains closely engaged in the conversations driving the future of trademark protection, enforcement, portfolio management, and cross-border brand strategy.

We were glad to be part of last week’s Philadelphia Creators Summit, hosted by the Lenfest Institute for Journalism.

RCCB attorneys Doug Panzer and Stacey Rabbino led an “Ask an Attorney” session, offering attendees practical guidance on contracts, intellectual property, business structure, and creator rights as creative work continues to evolve into a business.

It was a great opportunity to connect with creators, journalists, and media professionals navigating growth, monetization, and long-term sustainability in today’s landscape.

Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld LLC (RCCB) was part of a team that secured a significant $174+ million award for Chestlen Development, a real estate investment and development firm and owner of the 52-story, 755-room W Hotel and Element Hotel (Marriott) in Philadelphia.

RCCB Partner S. David Fineman represented Chestlen in the matter, which proceeded through trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The case—centered on construction delays and defect-related damages—spanned years of litigation, including a five-week bench trial and subsequent damages proceedings.

We’re pleased to have supported our client in achieving this outcome.

Artificial intelligence continues to present new and complex legal challenges—particularly in the area of non-consensual deepfake content.

In a recent USA Today feature on the growing issue of AI-generated sexual abuse, RCCB attorney Matthew Faranda-Diedrich provided a real-world perspective on a matter involving the misuse of this technology and its impact on students and families.

As the legal landscape continues to evolve, issues surrounding privacy, accountability, and protection from digital harm remain at the forefront. RCCB is actively engaged in helping clients navigate these emerging risks.
