Good news (for now) for some nationals subject to the pause on immigration benefits. Following a lawsuit by several plaintiffs from impacted countries, a federal judge has placed an injunction on an executive order suspending processing for certain nationals seeking benefits citing its discriminatory nature.

By Nate Raymond BOSTON, April 30 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday ruled that policies that make it harder for people from countries on President Donald Trump's travel ban list to get green

As SCOTUS weighs the President's attempt to end birthright citizenship through executive order, Italy-widely known for their generous bloodline based citizenship, abruptly changed their laws last year, tightening requirements. This has left some Americans looking for a new life in Italy lost, deported or even living undocumented in Italy. Not too different than what immigrants here go through, yet very different at the same time.

Italy’s new law restricting citizenship by descent has disappointed millions of the diaspora but has upended the lives of descendants who’d moved to Italy to start new lives.

President Trump's comfortable and blatantly expressed racism through social media is yet another reminder that companies and governments should not follow the leader. Institutions need proper social media use policies in place. They also need an underlying philosophy that clarifies the goals for communication on the platform. Otherwise posts like the one the president and his staff have put up and defended, are clear evidence of discrimination and can subject an institution to a lawsuit. They're also useless. Depicting his predecessor and former first lady as a monkey serves no other purpose but to remind the world that Trump is a racist. That may comfort himself and his supporters but such a post doesn't advance economic, political, social or other interests that actually help this country. Maybe the country of 250 years ago but not this one.

The tragic shooting at Brown University has led to a suspension of the program, long in the cross hairs of the Trump administration. Interestingly, unlike in the case of the killing of two national guards that saw immediate entry suspensions of Afghan nationals into U.S. (plus wider migration restrictions) due to the prime suspect being Afghan, although the prime suspect of the was Portugese, Portuguese nationals have been spared. Instead an entire program that largely admits nationals from and has been suspended. As predicted and expected, this administration is not hiding it's desire to limit migration from majority Black, Brown and Muslim nations. With recently announced entry bans, nearly half of African nationals, including intending immigrants, are facing some sort of entry restriction. How long before the Trump Administration bans the entire African continent from entry?

After a high profile ICE raid of a Hyundai auto plant in September, the US government (unclear who exactly) apologized to the automaker. And despite pouring over 1 BILLION dollars in one quarter alone in tarrifs, Hyundai is betting on the American market and says they're expanding investment in the U.S. One thing is clear: companies seeking to use international labor to do business in US better have deep pockets.

The September incident, which saw federal agents detain 475 workers, mostly Korean, at a Hyundai-LG Energy Solution Ltd. facility, was a "bad surprise," Muñoz said

As of today, the White House will require employers seeking high skilled workers to fill roles through H1B visas to pay a staggering one time $100,000 government fee per employee. This will obviously have a chilling effect on applications, where visa allotments are already miniscule compared to demand. Time will tell how the courts decide the legality of this rule as challenges are expected.

President Donald Trump’s latest effort to overhaul America’s legal immigration system — raising the annual fee on H-1B visa applicants from $215 to $100,000 — could deal a major blow
