When you're in the IAM, someone is watching the data, so you don't have to watch your back alone.

OSHA data exists for a reason. The Machinists Union uses it to identify hazards, push for safer conditions, and protect workers before someone gets hurt.

In the Schwarz family, putting others first isn't a value you learn. It's one you're born into.

The Schwarz family has always believed that showing up for others is the most important thing you can do, in work and in life. Alex Schwarz has lived that from day one, literally growing up alongside union workers before he could even tie his shoes. Today, as the youngest attorney ever appointed to the Pennsylvania State Machinists Council and IAM Local 1776, he carries that tradition into everything he does.

Happy 30th Birthday, Alex! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and the advocate you have become.

Shipbuilding is one of the most demanding and skilled fields of work in this country. It is also one of the most physically hazardous.

Falls from height. Crush injuries. Welding burns. Confined space incidents. Hazardous material exposure. These are not statistics; they are real risks faced by real people every shift.

We are sharing this because awareness is the first line of defense. Know the risks. Follow the procedures. Watch out for the person working beside you.

Stay safe out there.

Comment SHIP and we’ll send you a quick safety checklist to keep on hand.

Some law firms work for corporations. We work for the people who keep them running.

The Machinists. The Shipbuilders. The Electricians. The workers who show up before sunrise and don't leave until the job is done.

At Schwarz & Schwarz, that is who we show up for Every. Single. Time.

June kicks off National Safety Month - and we're talking about something that shouldn't need to be said, but it bears repeating.

Safety should never come second to production. No deadline, no quota, no bottom line is worth a worker's life or livelihood. When employers prioritize output over people, workers get hurt.

Know your rights. Know your options. Reach out to learn more.

Drop your industry in the comments below and we’ll send you important workplace safety updates.

Forklifts are one of the leading causes of serious workplace injuries. They are also an essential part of the transportation, warehousing, and manufacturing industries.

Tip-overs. Struck-by incidents. Pedestrian accidents. Load instability. These are not freak events. They are documented, preventable risks that happen when speed is prioritized over procedure.

Slow down. Check your load. Know your surroundings. Stay safe.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who served this country, and those who gave their lives in that service. Their sacrifice is the reason we have the freedoms we carry into every workplace, every union hall, and every negotiation.

The labor movement and the American military have always shared something fundamental: the belief that the person standing next to you matters, and that you do not leave them behind.

To the fallen, and to the families who carry them forward, we remember.

National Transportation Safety Week is a moment to recognize the men and women who keep this country moving, and who take on real risk every single day to do it.

It is an honor to work alongside IAM Union District 141, IAM District 142, District 19 IAMAW and Transportation Communications Union / IAM. The work you do matters. The safety standards you uphold matter. And the families waiting for you at home matter most of all.

We are committed to working together toward one goal: every member goes home safe.

If you've been injured on the job, the decisions made in the hours and days that follow matter enormously.

Document everything. Report the injury immediately through proper channels. Know that you have rights and that workers' comp is not the only option available to you.

Crush injuries, machinery accidents, and fall injuries in industrial settings are serious. So is making sure that the people who suffer from them have every resource available to them.

You don't have to figure it out alone.

To better understand your rights, comment on this post, and we’ll reach out to you directly.

Before any maintenance begins, the energy source must be controlled.

Lockout/tagout procedures exist to protect workers from unexpected releases of hazardous energy, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic energy. In shipbuilding, paper mills, and heavy industrial environments, skipping this step can mean the difference between a worker going home and a serious injury.

It is not a formality. It is a lifeline.
