The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful are inviting 10th-12th grade students to help keep Pennsylvania clean and beautiful through the Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania program.

The program, now in its third year, builds community stewards and civic leaders by empowering young Pennsylvanians to become ambassadors in their community for a shared vision of a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania. Applicants should be passionate about the environment and committed to restoring and protecting Pennsylvania’s ecological landscape through volunteerism and leadership.

Ambassadors will train and network with industry leaders, state agencies, local media, and the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful network to prepare them to be difference-makers in their communities by building their leadership and problem-solving skills.

Chosen candidates will commit to serve as an Ambassador from September 2024 through May 2025 and represent and uphold the mission and values of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

Applications are being accepted through Monday, June 10. Students will be chosen through a competitive application process. ‼️ The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus 2024/2025 James R. Roebuck Scholarship application deadline is RAPIDLY approaching! Submit by 5pm THIS FRIDAY April 5!
Apply at pahouse.com/PLBC/

Applications will be reviewed and scored by the Scholarship Committee. Successful applicants will receive a $1,000 scholarship made possible by the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus Foundation for educational purposes. Students are encouraged to use the scholarship award for tuition, fees, books, or school-related supplies and equipment.
Please share this information with any high school seniors & first year college students you know who may qualify!

Welcome to the first day of Black History Month!!! As the owner is a black owned business, at times I sit back and reflect that after almost 250 years, after all that black people have contributed to this country, we are still just accomplishing “firsts”.

This shows how long, how much work and dedication it takes to break through systems that were originally designed to keep us in our place. It could be my imagination but it seems that these “firsts” are happening more often. This lets me know, things are changing. I am happy bear witness and I hope you are too. Here’s to preserving and not giving up! Happy Black History Month!
