The biggest thing stopping people from moving to Arizona right now isn’t rates or prices.
It’s a headline about water that doesn’t even apply here. 👀
Here’s the reality:
Arizona uses roughly the same amount of water today as it did in the 1950s… despite the population growing 7x and the economy growing 15x. 🏜️
Why? Because Arizona planned ahead.
Back in 1980, Arizona passed the Groundwater Management Act, becoming the first state in the country to require 100-year water planning.
That means before a single home is built in Phoenix, Scottsdale, or other major cities, developers have to prove there’s a 100-year water supply available — not estimated, proven.
On top of that:
• Arizona has millions of acre-feet of water in storage
• Most wastewater gets reclaimed and reused
• Greater Phoenix pulls from multiple water sources
• Groundwater levels in the Valley are stable — and in some areas, improving
So when people say “Arizona is running out of water,” they’re usually repeating headlines, not facts.
And if you’re comparing states… ask what THEIR long-term water plan looks like. Because Arizona already has one. 🌵
