Before you file paperwork, choose a name, or assume your business is fully protected, take a moment to understand what an LLC actually does.

An LLC can help separate your personal assets from your business obligations, give your company a more legitimate foundation, and offer flexibility in how your business is managed and taxed.

But forming an LLC is not just about submitting a form.

You need to think through your business name, your filing state, your management structure, your EIN, your business bank account, and whether you need additional legal documents like an operating agreement, contracts, or trademark protection.

That is why we created a free Arizona LLC Starter Guide.

Inside, we walk through:

What an LLC is
Why business owners consider one
How an LLC compares to other business structures
The basic steps to forming an LLC in Arizona
How legal guidance can help you start with more confidence

At Obsidian Ridge Law, we help Arizona business owners move beyond boilerplate paperwork and build with clarity, strategy, and protection.

Comment LLC and we’ll send you the free guide.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is more than history.
It is the reason so many freedoms, opportunities, and moments with the people we love are possible today.

As a VA-accredited attorney, I have the privilege of walking alongside Veterans and military families every day. Memorial Day is a reminder that behind every benefit, every flag, and every folded uniform is a real person, a real family, and a real sacrifice.

Today, we honor those who never made it home.
And we remember the families who continue carrying that loss.

May we never take that sacrifice lightly.

In many cases, banks and lenders will ask for it before major transactions even move forward.

The businesses that run smoothly during transitions are often the ones that prepared long before the transition arrived.

If your business has grown or changed over the last few years, your governing documents may need to evolve with it.

And yet, only a small percentage of people actually have a plan in place.

Not because they don’t care.

Not because they’re irresponsible.

But because the system is confusing, the costs are unclear, and the conversation is easy to put off.

The reality is this:

Long-term care is not a rare event. It is a common part of aging.

The question is not if it may be needed.

The question is whether you’ve planned for how it will be handled.

Save this. It’s a conversation worth coming back to.

Motherhood holds so much of what we work to protect.

The quiet sacrifices.
The long days that turn into years of care.
The love that builds a life for others, often without recognition.

Today is a moment to pause and honor that.

To the mothers who have planned, protected, provided, and poured into the people they love, you are the foundation of so many stories that matter.

And for those who carry both love and loss today, we see you too.

Happy Mother’s Day 🤍.

Long-term care planning is not just about insurance.

It’s about making sure your future care doesn’t dictate your choices.
It’s about protecting what you’ve built.
It’s about easing the burden on the people you love.

Insurance can be part of the conversation—but real planning looks at the full picture: your assets, your goals, your family, and how you want to be cared for.

Because when a plan is in place, decisions don’t have to be made in crisis.

They can be made with clarity.

If this is something you’ve been putting off or have questions about, you’re welcome to schedule a complimentary 15-minute call to talk through your situation and explore next steps.

Long-term care insurance can be a valuable tool—but only in the right circumstances.

It may make sense if you:

• have meaningful assets you want to protect
• want to preserve a legacy for those you care about
• are thinking about a spouse’s long-term stability
• want more flexibility in how care is provided
• are in a position to qualify and sustain coverage

The key is understanding that this is not just a financial decision.

It’s a personal one.

Because long-term care planning is ultimately about protecting your choices, your family, and your peace of mind.

If you’ve been wondering whether this fits into your plan, it may be worth taking a closer look.

Long-term care insurance is one of those things most people have heard of…

but very few people fully understand.

At its core, long-term care insurance is designed to help cover the cost of care if you ever need ongoing assistance with daily life—whether that’s at home, in an assisted living community, or in a nursing facility.

Because here’s the part many people don’t realize:

Traditional health insurance—and even Medicare—typically does not cover extended long-term care needs.

Which means without a plan, those costs are often paid:

• out of pocket
• through significant asset use
• or after qualifying for Medicaid

Because this kind of planning isn’t just about finances.
It’s about making sure that if care is needed, you still have options.

If this is something you’ve been thinking about, you’re not alone.
