Happy National Paralegal Day to all our members and paralegal friends!

A little history of National Paralegal Day:

You may have heard different dates mentioned over the years, and that's because various organizations and states have celebrated paralegals on different dates.

In 2024, NALA, NFPA, NALS, and the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE) came together to establish August 6 as the official National Paralegal Day, and the date was formally recognized in the U.S. Congressional Record.

Some states and local paralegal associations continue to celebrate their own state-specific Paralegal Day on different dates, and those celebrations are still important. August 6 is the nationally recognized day to celebrate paralegals across the United States.

The date was chosen because August 6, 1968 was the day the American Bar Association established the Special Committee on Lay Assistants, now known as the ABA Standing Committee on Paralegals, marking an important milestone in the recognition of our profession.

With their families, local dignitaries, and local civic organization representatives witnessing, 35 candidates took the Oath of Allegiance and were sworn in as the newest American citizens in Northwest Florida.
