We’re proud to share that AWKO Founding Partner Bryan Aylstock has been appointed Co-Lead Counsel in the federal Roblox MDL, a groundbreaking case seeking justice for children harmed through the Roblox platform.

This leadership appointment reflects Bryan’s decades-long dedication to protecting survivors of child sexual abuse and his national reputation in complex mass tort litigation. At the heart of this case is accountability, ensuring that powerful technology companies like Roblox prioritize child safety over profit.

As Bryan stated:
“I am fully committed to holding Roblox accountable for systemic failures that enabled harm to vulnerable children and securing meaningful reforms that will protect future generations.”

Protecting children online is not optional; it is a responsibility. We look forward to working alongside co-lead counsel and the brave families we represent to pursue justice for survivors and lasting reforms that keep children safe.

Last week, we were honored to take part in the 3rd Annual Because I Wore This Fundraiser and to stand alongside survivors, advocates, and community partners committed to ending human trafficking and exploitation.

On behalf of AWKO, attorney Alexandra “Cookie” Echsner-Rasmussen spoke about our firm’s commitment to standing with survivors not only as legal advocates but as compassionate partners. She shared how our work seeks justice in the courtroom while also supporting healing through collaboration, trust, and survivor-centered advocacy.

Cookie also highlighted AWKO’s partnership with Survivor-Led Solutions, which brings together legal expertise and survivor-driven insight to push for meaningful, systemic change. By empowering survivors to lead, shape solutions, and be believed, we move closer to a system rooted in accountability, dignity, and hope.

We are grateful to be part of a community that understands that real justice and real healing grow through connection and collective action.

Happy Birthday to AWKO attorney Hannah Pfeifler! 🎉Wishing you a wonderful year ahead filled with success and happiness.

AWKO stands with the American Association for Justice, the Minnesota Association for Justice, and our colleagues across the civil justice community in condemning recent federal immigration enforcement actions in Minnesota that have sown fear, destabilized communities, and resulted in the tragic loss of life. As trial lawyers, we believe that upholding the rule of law and our Constitution is not optional; it is the core of our democracy and all that our country represents to Americans and to the world.

We stand with the families and communities in Minnesota who feel unsafe, the lawyers and advocates who are challenging unlawful conduct in court, and with the judges who are faithfully applying the Constitution in the face of political pressure. We reaffirm our commitment to a justice system that honors human dignity, safeguards constitutional rights, and ensures that no one is above the law.

We’re proud to be recognized by the Bar Newspaper for this meaningful holiday effort. Led by AWKO attorney Savannah Green, Philanthropy Chair for the Young Lawyers Division of the Escambia–Santa Rosa Bar Association, this season’s gift drive helped provide Christmas gifts for 15 local families facing housing insecurity. AWKO was honored to sponsor the drive and partner with YLD and the Escambia County School District to support families in our community.

A great reminder of what’s possible when the legal community comes together for good. 🎁✨

For survivors of clergy sexual abuse, time doesn’t erase trauma. Attorney Reagan Charleston Thomas of Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz recently spoke to WBRZ 2 about the surge of new lawsuits filed against the Diocese of Baton Rouge under Louisiana’s lookback window.

“It takes decades for survivors to process the trauma they’ve endured as children,” Reagan said. “I'm not surprised by clergymen who do not appear on credibly accused lists; that could be for a variety of reasons, but in no way do I base my assertion of a survivor's story on who is or is not on a credibly accused list.”

These cases underscore why Louisiana’s lookback window is so important—and why accountability, transparency, and survivor-centered justice remain essential. We are honored to stand with survivors as they come forward and seek the justice they deserve.

Sports betting is becoming normalized faster than the safeguards meant to protect kids, and families are already seeing the consequences. AWKO Partner Jennifer Hoekstra was featured in USA Today discussing the growing problem of underage sports betting, including how teens are easily bypassing age restrictions on major platforms.

“There's a problem with how we're handling gambling in this country,” Jennifer said. “It really is making it an innocuous part of sports culture when, quite frankly, there's a problem.”

As mobile betting gains momentum ahead of prevention efforts, underage gambling is being normalized as just another part of fandom. With real risks to developing brains and lifelong mental health, the stakes couldn’t be higher. AWKO remains committed to demanding accountability, stronger safeguards, and meaningful protections for kids and families before this crisis grows even deeper.
