Several States Drive 20 Percent of Remodel Activity
It's fascinating to see how California, Texas, and Florida are at the forefront of U.S. remodeling activity. California alone accounts for 8% of the $22.2 billion market. From 2023 to 2025, remodeling spending has grown by over 10%—a trend fueled by aging homes, increased homeowner equity, and the presence of 128,000 remodeling firms across the country. In South Florida, where I’ve guided clients for nearly two decades, these shifts reflect real opportunities for buyers, sellers, and investors to add value and adapt to changing needs.

Americans Name Nashville and Florida the Most Desirable Places to Live in 2026
It's always fascinating to see where Americans dream of moving next, and recent findings put Nashville at the top of the list for most desirable U.S. metro areas in 2026—just ahead of Denver and San Diego. As someone who has spent nearly two decades guiding clients through the South Florida market, I’m proud to see Florida leading the states in overall desirability. In contrast, high costs and taxes are weighing down California and New York, while factors like crime and changes in data center regulations have made Chicago the least desirable. Trends like these remind me how important it is to navigate shifting preferences and market dynamics with expertise—whether you’re considering a move, an investment, or simply staying informed.

NAHB Research Finds Three States Lead Q1 2026 Remodeling Activity
As someone deeply rooted in South Florida real estate for nearly two decades, I always keep an eye on national trends that shape our market. Recent NAHB research places California, Texas, and Florida at the forefront of U.S. remodeling activity for Q1 2026. California leads the way, capturing 8% of the market and $22.2 billion in spending. What’s especially encouraging is that, even as some states saw negative growth, inflation-adjusted remodeling spending nationwide climbed over 10% from 2023 to 2025—fueled in large part by rising home equity. For those considering buying, selling, or investing, this momentum in remodeling signals both confidence and opportunity in our real estate landscape.

US Housing Prices Keep Climbing
As someone with over 19 years of real estate experience in South Florida, I’ve seen the ebb and flow of the housing market up close. Lately, many buyers have held out hope for prices to dip, but home values have continued to hold steady across the country—even as the post-pandemic rush has slowed. The main reason? There are still far more buyers than available homes, and this tight inventory keeps prices supported, especially in high-demand areas. Of course, the story is different in some markets: where new construction is more plentiful and demand isn’t as strong, buyers are finding a bit more leverage, with listings taking longer to sell. Interestingly, despite rising mortgage rates, sales have actually increased, likely fueled by steady gains in jobs and income nationwide. It’s a mixed picture for affordability right now—while incomes are rising faster than home prices, those higher rates remain a hurdle for many. Navigating this landscape takes knowledge and a steady hand, and that’s where my experience comes into play.
