On March 17th, 1737, more than two dozen Presbyterians who emigrated from the north of Ireland gathered to honor St. Patrick and form the Charitable Irish Society to assist distressed Irishmen in the city.

On March 16, National Panda Day 🐼 draws attention to one of the world’s unique bears. Pandas are also one of the world’s most endangered and adored animals. Conservationists and animal lovers alike spread the word about the increasing efforts of the international community dedicated to protecting and restoring habitats.

You may have heard the phrase “beware the Ides of March,” but what is an Ides, and what’s there to fear?

The Ides were the designated days for settling debt each month in the Roman empire and generally included the seven days preceding the Ides for this purpose. No doubt debtors who could not pay their debts considered the Ides to be unlucky days as they were typically thrown into prison or forced into slavery.

In Ancient Rome, the Ides of March was the day when Julius Caesar was betrayed and assassinated.

Alfred Hitchcock was born on August 13, 1899, Some of his masterpieces are North by Northwest, Rear Window, and Dial M for Murder. 📽
