Just got hired on a murder. First meeting.

Alleged domestic violence victim surreptitiously placed Apple air tags in my Client’s belongings after he was charged. This is a crime, PC 637.7. I can also show that the alleged victim tried to log into my Client’s social media after he was charged. We get one or the other sometimes, but both is wild🕵️‍♀️

Good story. Humans are drivers of energy and we don’t forget those that connect with ours. Back in 2009, I was a public defender, assigned to Metropolitan Court in downtown Los Angeles. I met a young man (as old as me at the time) in custody. He had a dense problem. Many cases. I told him that I knew deep in my heart that he was a good person and that he shouldn’t let this experience lower his self-esteem.

For some reason, I never forgot his face. It wasn’t that he was facing serious stuff. I’ve defended thousands of people. I don’t remember everyone. But his energy aligned with mine, fundamentally, because of his warm heart.

Fast forward to today. He got sober, but still has the same old cases from when we first met in 2009. They are in warrant status and need to be cleared out. I’ll do that. But, the point is - he remembered me, and knew instinctively after all these years that I would be the one to push him through completely. He is in graduate school now, with a great job offer. I am so blessed to take care of him today. I do believe these things happen on purpose. I do believe in “the universe”. I truly believe that certain clients are supposed to come to me in particular. I am born to help people in deeply meaningful ways. Thank you for reading.

Got another erroneously charged child abuse matter dismissed in furtherance of justice today. Client was not guilty.

He was like a man on the beach holding a surfboard and looking up at a hundred-foot wave coming in. The power and might of the state was limitless.
