LA City Attorney called out for selective prosecution of supporters. “We believe that this charging decision was based upon impermissible bias,” said attorney Colleen Flynn, “It makes no sense to punish highly moral concerned citizens.”

The office hasn’t prosecuted at least 200 others arrested while protesting for other causes.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has charged 49 people with misdemeanors for failing to disperse during a pro-Palestinian protest at UC Irvine in May.

In a statement released today, the Orange County DA announced that they will file charges on 10 people arrested last May at UCI following Palestinian solidarity demonstrations on campus. The move is reminiscent of the 2011 OCDA prosecution of the "Irvine 11."

Not every lawbreaker is a criminal. There is a long and noble history of American activists who were jailed for civil disobedience. Some of America's greatest heroes, like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King and Muhammed Ali, all spent time in jail to fight oppression and injustice. Today these young American Jews shut down a busy LA freeway and should be commended for their heroism. While I hate LA Traffic, I would gladly endure the morning gridlock to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people suffering a brutal and violent assault. I would be honored to represent these young activits in court if the government chooses to prosecute them for sitting on the right side of history.
