Wage and hour cases are most certainly civil rights cases. In the case, Owino et al. v. CoreCivic, Inc., the plaintiffs are civil immigration detainees confined in U.S. government detention facilities under the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They have filed a lawsuit against CoreCivic, Inc., the private prison company contracted by ICE, to put a stop to the forced labor.

It’s been 13 years since the California Supreme Court made L’Oreal pay a model $15,000 because it delayed paying her the $500 she earned for two months. Employees have the right to get paid on time and in full. Read more on our website yoonlaw.com.

But still models today (as well as a lot of other workers) don’t get paid on time. In the modeling industry, as others, the excuse is I’ll pay you when I get paid. But that’s not your problem. When people take extra risk, they should get extra pay.
