Did you know that the first known notary can be traced back to ancient Rome? A man named Tiro, who worked as a secretary for the famous orator Cicero, developed a shorthand writing system called notae to quickly record speeches. Over time, others who performed similar duties became known as notarii—a title that eventually evolved into the notaries we know today! ✍️
