One perspective of the conversation that is being overlooked is the reality that many have NO DESIRE to own a house, condo, th or whatever cohabitation style is popular at the moment, for whatever reason they apply to their situations; intentionally choosing to rent or remain uncommitted to any official housing arrangement. Increased taxation, insurance, higher maintenance costs driven by labor rates, lack of desire to live a fiscally disciplined lifestyle, unreasonable expectations, etc are many factors influencing consumerism. This isn’t a broadly applied view by most but one that bears consideration given the constant driving forces of consumerism, capitalism & sales and marketing models.
In the grand scheme of things, buyer’s motives change constantly, owning may no longer be the consumer’s #1 priority!!!
Experts say the U.S. needs an additional 2 million to 20 million homes to fix the shortfall, underscoring the challenge of meeting the nation’s housing needs.
