The skies were getting darker.
Our determination wasn’t.

The storm has passed, but this moment was worth sharing. ⛈️❤️

As the skies darkened and the hurricane approached the Florida Panhandle, we were on the road, heading to work to help clients who were counting on us.

Why? Because immigration concerns don’t disappear just because a storm is coming.

Of course, safety comes first. But while it was still safe to travel, we had work to do and people depending on us.

Determination isn’t about waiting for perfect conditions. It’s about doing what you can, when you can, to make a difference. 💪🏼⚖️

Now that the storm has passed, we’re especially grateful and thinking of everyone in our Panama City and Florida Panhandle community who may still be dealing with its aftermath. ❤️ 🙏🏼

🌀⚠️As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Florida Panhandle, don’t let your immigration documents become an afterthought. 📄

🚨A lost or damaged Green Card can cost $415 to replace online or $465 by paper. A replacement Certificate of Naturalization can cost $505 online or $555 by paper. Those costs are avoidable if you take a few simple steps now.

Before the storm:

☑️ Take clear photos or scans of your Green Card, naturalization certificate, work permit, passport, immigration notices and other important records.

☑️ Email copies to yourself or save them securely in cloud storage.

☑️ Place the originals in a waterproof bag or container.

☑️ Keep everything somewhere secure but easy to access if you need to evacuate quickly.

A few minutes of preparation now can save you hundreds of dollars, paperwork and unnecessary stress later.

🇺🇸 Military Parole in Place is NOT just for Army families.

Army. Navy. Air Force. Marine Corps. Coast Guard. Space Force.

If your qualifying family member serves — or served — in the U.S. Armed Forces, Military Parole in Place (PIP) may be an immigration option worth asking about.

Why does this matter?

For some military family members who entered the United States without inspection, the way they entered can create a major obstacle to adjusting status in the United States.

Military PIP may help address that particular issue in certain cases.

But here’s the important part: PIP is not a green card, and military service does not automatically fix every immigration problem. Eligibility and the next step depend on the person’s complete immigration history and other facts.

Some of my clients can’t afford to miss a day of work just to meet with their immigration lawyer.

So today, I’m working around their work schedule. ❤️

Yes, it’s Labor Day. And yes, I’m at the office. 😅

For many working families, an appointment during regular business hours can mean requesting time off, losing hours or rearranging an already complicated schedule.

But today? They’re off.

🎒📚 Happy First Day of School, Bay County! 🤩

Apparently, someone at the office was VERY concerned about being left out of all the back-to-school excitement. 🐾😂🤭

But behind today’s cute backpacks, first-day photos and nervous smiles is something worth remembering: our schools are filled with children whose families have many different stories.

Some were born here. Some arrived here from another country. Some have parents navigating the U.S. immigration system while working, raising their families and building a life in our community.

Whatever their family’s journey may be, today they’re all walking through those school doors with something in common:

Dreams about who they might become. ❤️

⚽ Every World Cup team had a story—and so does every immigration client.

Some entered the tournament as favorites.
Some were underdogs.
Some made unforgettable comebacks.
And some saw their journey end before they were ready.

That is why the World Cup felt so familiar to me as an immigration attorney.

Argentina reminded us that being strong on paper does not guarantee the result we believe is deserved.

Mexico reminded us that even when a case is fought with courage and commitment, the outcome may still be painful.

Cape Verde reminded us that hope matters—because laws change, courts issue new decisions, and yesterday’s closed door may become today’s opportunity.

France reminded us that a difficult first half is not always the end. Sometimes the appeal is where the strongest comeback begins.

Spain reminded us that preparation, patience, honesty, and teamwork are often what place a case in the strongest possible position.

And the USA reminded us to keep dreaming—and to value the people who help make that dream possible.

Immigration cases carry the same emotions we felt during the tournament: hope, fear, uncertainty, heartbreak, perseverance, and joy.

A setback does not define your worth. A denial does not always mean there are no remaining options. And no one should have to navigate the process without understanding the law and the strategy ahead.
