Talk about a Florida investment that took an unbelievable turn.

Four friends bought Pine Key, better known as B**r Can Island, for just $65,000 and began transforming the once-trash-covered Tampa Bay island into a destination people could reach by boat.

The island earned its nickname from the b**r cans and other garbage visitors had left behind over the years.

But here’s the part that’s hard to believe.

Co-owner Cole Weaver says they later put the property on the market for about a month and received seven separate offers, every one of them above $10 million.

They turned them all down. Instead of cashing out, the owners decided to keep pursuing their vision for the island.

And that vision has gotten much bigger.

The group says it removed roughly 18,000 pounds of trash after acquiring the property.

Now they’re working on plans that could include expanded docks, jet-ski slips, tiki huts, a stage, transportation shuttles and environmental projects such as seagrass planting and oyster domes.

They’re also trying to move B**r Can Island beyond its old party reputation and make it a destination that families, children, and even pets can enjoy.

From a $65,000 purchase to multiple offers exceeding $10 million, this has to be one of the wildest Florida real-estate stories I’ve seen.
