What happens when you get pushed into the car in front of you? 🛑🚗💥

Most people assume that if your front bumper hits someone's rear bumper, you are automatically at fault. But if you were completely stopped and someone rear-ended you so hard that you were pushed forward, you have a legal defense.

Because you were pushed, you are not negligent. You shouldn't be held liable for the damage to the car in front of you. Don't just accept the blame if the insurance company tries to point the finger in a multi-car pileup!

$250,000 secured in a car crash case where the insurance company had plenty to point at.

There wasn’t a lot of visible vehicle damage, and our client had a history of pre-existing conditions, exactly the kind of facts insurers love to use to argue that someone “was already hurt.”

But the full picture told a different story.

Maryann Furman and co-counsel Frank McDermott were able to show that this crash caused real harm, and the case ultimately resolved for $250,000.

A good reminder that a photo of the car and an old medical record never tell the whole story.

Three years is a long time to work through a case, which makes reviews like this mean even more.

Kristina trusted The Nurse Lawyer team after her 2023 car accident, and we’re grateful she felt supported throughout the entire process.

Attention to detail matters. Communication matters. But making sure a client actually feels cared for from beginning to end matters just as much.

The city is NOT automatically responsible for the pothole that wrecked your car. 🛑📉

Before you try to sue the county for that massive crater in the road, you need to answer one question: Did they know about it?

If a pothole opened up 10 minutes ago, the city likely isn't liable. But if neighbors have been reporting it for three months? That’s a completely different story.

Think letting a friend borrow your car is just a nice favor? Think again. 🛑🚗

Under Florida law, a vehicle is considered an "inherently dangerous machine." The absolute second you hand your keys over to a friend, you are legally tying yourself to every single mistake they make behind the wheel.

If they get distracted and cause a severe crash, the legal blame falls directly on your shoulders. It doesn't matter if you weren't in the car.

Your generosity is not a legal defense. Next time a friend asks for your keys, do yourself a favor and tell them to call an Uber. 📱🚕

Your bumper doesn't feel pain. Your neck does. 🛑👀

Just because your car survived a rear-end crash with only a few scratches doesn't mean your body did. Some of the most severe, long-lasting back and neck injuries we treat at our firm come from "minor" fender benders.

Don't let the insurance company use a photo of your car to dictate the severity of your pain.

Is it legal for an insurance company to hire someone to stalk you? Surprisingly... yes. 😳🕵️‍♂️

When you file a personal injury claim, the insurance company will look for any excuse to avoid paying you. And yes, that includes hiring private investigators to sit outside your house, follow you to the grocery store, and record you from a distance.

They are waiting for you to lift a heavy bag, play with your kids, or even just smile, all so they can take that footage to a judge and say, "Look! They aren't really that hurt."

It feels invasive. It feels like harassment. But it is 100% legal.

Do you think this should be illegal? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Robotaxis have officially stepped foot into Florida this year, and they’re only becoming more common.

Waymo is already giving fully autonomous rides in Miami and Orlando, with Tampa expected to be next. So there’s a question Florida drivers are going to hear a lot more often: "What happens when a car with no driver causes an accident?"

Florida law already allows fully autonomous vehicles to operate without a human inside and treats the automated driving system as the vehicle’s operator while it’s engaged. And for qualifying autonomous robotaxi rides, Florida requires at least $1 million in primary liability coverage.

That doesn’t mean every robotaxi accident has the same answer. Who is ultimately responsible still depends on what caused the crash.

No driver doesn’t mean no liability.
