Since shortly after the city's incorporation in 1957, the Pacifica Fire Department has played an integral role in responding to and mitigating emergency situations, including fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, cliff rescues, and public assists. 0 calls a year from its two stations in Pacifica and the surrounding cities of Daly City (to the North) and Half Moon Bay (to the South). Station 71, PFD Headquarters, is located in the north end of town at 616 Edgemar Blvd, and responds to calls from Mussel Rock down to Vallemar. Station 72, located at 1100 Linda Mar Blvd., responds to the district of Vallemar and everywhere south, including the Devil's Slide/ Tom Lantos Tunnel area. In addition to running calls for medical emergencies, fires, vehicle accidents, cliff rescues, and public assists, the Pacifica Fire Department plays an active role in the community, reading to children at the local library, conducting fire safety presentations at local elementary schools, participating in toy drives and fundraisers (like MDA Fill-the-Boot), and doing yearly fire inspections of local businesses to ensure their safety and continuity. This page allows users to get a glimpse inside the every day happenings of the fire department that many are not able to see on a consistent basis, and serve as channel of communication between the general public and the Fire Department.
