We went around to our local banks here in The Villages and dropped off some goodies.

The behind-the-scenes stuff that actually matters.

Just got back from Alaska with my people 🤍❄️

Whales, waterfalls, way too many photos.

But also… vacation brain can't fully turn off apparently 😅

Because here's something I see mixed up ALL the time 👇

A power of attorney ends the moment someone passes.

It only works while you're alive.

After that, it's your personal representative (named in your will) who takes over.

Two different roles. Two different documents!

Easy to mix up. Even easier to get right from the start 🤍

Okay so let's talk about naming a guardian… 😅

Genuinely one of THE hardest decisions in this whole process.

So here's how to actually think it through 👇

1️⃣ who shares your values, not just your last name

2️⃣ who has the bandwidth and stability for it

3️⃣ talk to them BEFORE you name them

4️⃣ name a backup, always

5️⃣ and here's the relief… you can change your mind later. Nothing's permanent!

So no, you don't have to get it "perfect" today.

You just have to start 🤍

POV: you came in to get your estate plan handled and got greeted by the cutest member of the Pittman Law team. 🐾💗

She’s great for moral support.

Legal advice? We’ll handle that part. 😂

Because “I’ll just write my wishes down and sign it” sounds easy… until you realize Florida has actual requirements for a valid will. 👀

And if those requirements aren’t met? That handwritten will you were counting on might not hold up the way you thought it would.

Moral of the story: DIY is great for a lot of things.

Your estate plan probably shouldn’t be one of them. 😉

probate is a lot like fishing… 🎣

you can wait for hours not knowing what you're going to reel in.

it can take months. it's public record. it comes with court costs.

none of that is a surprise you want your family dealing with while they're reeling from a loss. 💛
