I am honored to have been part of the legal team on this tragic case. I’d like to commend my co-counsel Kevin McCormack on an outstanding job in leading this six year battle for justice for our client Kelli Goode and her family. We started trial in Federal Court Monday here in Oxford and we are pleased that the City of Southaven and other defendants recognized the exposure they faced and decided to end the case through a favorable settlement for our client. Kelli Goode is a fighter and never wavered in her resolve to take this case all the way to the end of trial. She claimed victory yesterday and she and the rest of the family can now get long overdue closure knowing that justice was indeed done.

Before the second day of trial in the case of Goode vs. the City of Southaven took place at the U.S. District Court in Oxford, a settlement was reached between the city and the family of Troy Goode.

It's been a great week representing my clients. In addition to helping my usual business and other clients with their important matters, I had court in two separate towns on DUI cases and was able to have both dismissed. One was a DUI 2nd Offense carrying mandatory jail time for my client if I lost that I had dismissed during the trial on my motion to dismiss for lack of probable cause and insufficient evidence and one was a DUI 1st Offense dismissed on my motion dismiss prior to trial for lack of sufficient evidence and failure of the state's witness to appear. Both cases had serious evidentiary problems for the prosecution that I was able to use to get winning results for my clients but unfortunately many people don't hire good representation and just take a bad plea deal or worse they hire bad representation and pay extra for a bad plea deal.
