6 years ago today, we walked into our home for the very first time. 🏡❤️
I remember sending the listing to my husband and him saying he wasn’t interested—the photos were terrible. 😂 A few days later, I sent it again, and he agreed to humor me and take a look.
I’ll never forget him standing in the kitchen while I entertained our infant in the living room, turning to me and saying, “I really like this house.”
Getting to the closing table was a whole different story. The sellers hadn’t purchased title insurance, and the title company couldn’t find a clean deed. After months of waiting and uncertainty, we finally closed.
Looking back, I realize we got pretty lucky with this house—but that luck was also strategy.
Because the listing was poorly marketed with unflattering photos and little promotion, it stayed on the market long enough for us to find it. With a strong marketing strategy, it likely would have sold before we ever had the chance.
We weren’t even seriously looking to buy. We were just casually browsing. But when the right house came along, our agent was ready to act, our lender was prepared, and we were able to write an offer immediately.
That’s one of the reasons real estate is so much more than a transaction to me.
